Interior architecture & design
Interior architecture and design for Costa Blanca homes, from concept to a finished interior
Interior architecture turns a renovation from a list of jobs into a coherent home: layout, light, materials, joinery and furniture that belong together. CostaVeyra sets the design direction and manages it through to the finished interior, working with our selected interior designers, makers and suppliers.
Designed, coordinated and managed by CostaVeyra — usually as part of a complete renovation, with one point of contact throughout.

Scope
What a project can include.
- Design direction, brief and budget alignment by CostaVeyra
- Space planning and layout reconfiguration
- Concept, mood and material palette
- Lighting design, including circuits, scenes and fittings
- Kitchen, bathroom and bespoke joinery design
- Specification of finishes: stone, timber, plaster, tiles
- Drawings and schedules the works are built against
- Furniture, textiles, art and styling for a home or a holiday rental
- Procurement and coordination of deliveries
- Site follow-up so the design is built as drawn
Interior design is often treated as the final layer of a renovation: furniture, colours, cushions. In practice, the most valuable design work happens much earlier, when walls are still being moved and the sockets have not yet been placed. That is when interior architecture shapes how a home feels and works, and it is why CostaVeyra starts every project with design direction.
What interior architecture and design covers
For a Costa Blanca home, the design typically works through:
- Layout. How rooms connect to each other, to terraces and to the view. Older villas often have long corridors and small rooms that can be reorganised.
- Lighting. Daylight is abundant, sometimes too abundant. Shading, glazing and the depth of reveals matter as much as artificial lighting, which should be designed in layers on separate circuits, with scenes where controls allow.
- Finishes. Lime plaster, tadelakt, travertine, terracotta, oak and linen suit the climate and age well. The specification lists exact materials, finishes and suppliers.
- Joinery. Built-in wardrobes, shelving, kitchens and doors give a calm, finished interior and use space efficiently.
- Furniture and styling. Furniture, textiles, rugs and art, chosen for the climate and how the house will be used, whether as a permanent home or a holiday rental.
Design before the works are priced
The most useful thing a design brings is a clear specification before the works are budgeted. When every part of the project is priced against the same drawings, finishes schedule and lighting plan, the budget is reliable and the works can refer to precise documents. Variations, which are where budgets typically drift, become fewer and easier to price.
The design should also respect the realities of the building. Where the plan changes structure, façade or volume, an architect’s technical project is generally needed. Our article on whether you need an architect in Spain explains when that applies.
Working on the design from abroad
Many owners on the Costa Blanca live elsewhere for much of the year. We work with video calls, shared drawings and sample boards sent by post, with site visits at key milestones, so decisions can be made calmly wherever you are.
If you are weighing up where design investment makes the most difference, our article on where to spend a renovation budget may help.
How CostaVeyra manages your interior
We define the brief and design direction with you and align the specification with the budget. Our project team then coordinates the interior designers, architect where needed, contractors, joiners and suppliers, follows the works on site so the design is built as drawn, and manages procurement, delivery and styling through to handover.
Interior architecture is part of almost every complete renovation we manage. See our approach to villa renovation on the Costa Blanca, and our pages on apartment renovations and kitchen renovations.
Who is involved
Your project team, coordinated by CostaVeyra.
Interior designer
Develops the concept, layout, lighting and specification with our project team, and follows the works so that the drawings are built as intended.
Architect
Brought in by CostaVeyra where the design alters the structure, façade or volume, to sign the technical project and licence documentation.
Contractors
Build against the design drawings and specification, coordinated by CostaVeyra so that site decisions stay consistent with the design.
Joiners and specialist makers
Make and install bespoke wardrobes, kitchens, doors, shelving and other pieces to the drawings, within the programme our project team manages.
Before you decide
Considerations.
When design comes in
Before the works are priced. A full specification means the budget is reliable, variations are fewer, and decisions are made calmly rather than on site.
Scope of design
Design can cover concept and layout only, or run through full specification, site follow-up, procurement and styling. The scope is agreed in writing during project definition.
Materials for the coast
Strong light, heat and salt air affect fabrics, timber and metals. Lime plaster, natural stone, ceramics and well-chosen textiles generally age gracefully in a Mediterranean house.
Budget alignment
The specification drives cost. As a broad guide for the Costa Blanca in 2026, excluding VAT, fees and taxes, a full renovation at good mid-to-high specification runs roughly €900–€1,500/m², and a high-end, architect-led reconfiguration roughly €1,500–€2,500+/m². Design fees are separate.
Questions owners ask
Do I need an interior designer or an architect?
It depends on the scope. If the works change structure, façade or volume, an architect's technical project is generally required. Interior design focuses on layout, light, materials and furnishings. On many projects both are needed, and CostaVeyra coordinates them.
Can the design be developed while I live abroad?
Yes. We work by video call, shared drawings and physical sample boards sent by post, with site visits at key moments. It suits owners who spend much of the year elsewhere.
How is interior design priced?
Design is usually priced per phase, from concept through specification, site follow-up and procurement. The design scope and fees are set out in writing during project definition, before any work starts.
Can CostaVeyra manage the interior as part of a complete renovation?
Yes. That is where design adds most value: the layout, lighting, joinery and finishes are decided before the works begin, and our project team carries them through to the furnished, styled home.
